JENNY GERSTEN, Producing Consultant
JENNY GERSTEN is Producing Consultant for the Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center and is the Producer of several independent projects, including non-traditional performance and immersive works. She is the Producer of Live Cinema series of workshops written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Most recently, Ms. Gersten served as the Executive Director of Friends of the High Line, responsible for programming and operation of one of the great public spaces in Manhattan. Through the summer of 2014, she was Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where Ms. Gersten also served as Associate Producer from 1996-2004. She served as the Associate Producer of The Public Theater in New York City for four years.
Prior to joining the Public, she was the Artistic Director of the theater artist collective, Naked Angels. Ms. Gersten was Director of Marketing and Development at The 52nd Street Project, a mentoring theater organization that brings inner-city youth from the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood together with professional theater artists to create original plays. She has served as a casting director for Billy Elliot the Musical as well as for visual artist Gregory Crewdson.
She is a grant adjudicator for TCG and Pew, has taught theater producing at NYU, and is a Tony Nominator. Ms Gersten was an archaeology and art history major at Oberlin College. She is wife to writer and lyricist Willie Reale, mother to Gus and Leo, treat-giver to their beloved dog Penny. Her preferred method of transportation is bicycle.
